New shoots for a new decade? New approaches to the world of Dictaphone jaxx, voice muss and tape pinch?
This collection came together almost by accident: a live recording here, a suggestion from a friend there, a causal music-make while waiting for the soup to boil. As ever the psychedelic domestic takes hold and rattles a little dust over the pomp.
Download, press play and go about your business. I hope soft grey clouds bloom in your ears and it makes you sizzle a smile like Nicholson’s bacon.
All the best in the twentytwenty...
Flu state The sound of self-pity? A throbbing head and aching joints? Well... perhaps. All that snot makes for a glorious recovery though.
Exi Feel the whirr of polyurethane nestle the gong farmer
For Zanntone One casual remark on twitter from the artist known to many as simply ‘the Zanntone’ resulted in this hectic mouth jam. Recorded on two dictas using Z’s image as a visual score. Revel in the pregnant pauses and full-on nettle-mush itchiness.
Half Alive First half of this one was the last part of a home jam. The second part is the first part of a live jam (recorded at Shoe Tree Cafe, Newcastle 8th Nov 2019) using the same tapes at different speeds. Joined by digital sellotape with little skill.
Dicta Solo 26th Oct 2019 (take2) Recorded in bed, sunny afternoon. Probably should have been doing something else.
!rabbooost-ucck! Andy Wild, that Crow Versus Crow polymath, sent me a perfectly balanced balloon improvisation that I later folded into a sucky-sloppy dicta jam. For the audiophiles among you, Andy’s balloons are mixed in glorious stereo.
Megaphone solo Leeds 1st Dec 2019 My first ever solo megaphone show at Leeds’ mighty Wharf Chambers. Once again I’m attempting to channel Yoni Silver’s mucky circular breath through my decaying electronic circuits and stocking feet.
World Worry This hump features the moaning and groaning of highly paid actors and sound engineers. Piano recording taken from Gateshead Soundroom.
